6 Now when the Messiah was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

10 When the Messiah understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. Matt 6:6-13

3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6 And the Messiah said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. Mk 14:3-9

36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.

37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that the Messiah sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

40 And the Messiah answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace. Lke 7:36-50

12:1 Then the Messiah six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of the Messiah, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said the Messiah, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for the Messiah’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on the Messiah . Jn 12:1-11

Q. Who was the woman with the alabaster box?

A. The woman with the alabaster box, was, Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha. Mary used to sit at the feet of the Messiah and listen to his words. Jn 12:1,2..Lke 10:38-42

*.*.*

1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Jn 12:1,2

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at the Messiah’ feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And the Messiah answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Lke 10:40-42

Six day before the Passover The Messiah came to Bethany, where Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead was.

And in Bethany they made The Messiah a supper.

And one of the Pharisees, Simon the leper, invited The Messiah to come and eat with him. So The Messiah went into Simon’s house, and he sat down at the table. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was also one of the guests who was seated at the table with The Messiah.

Many Jews also came to the supper because they knew that The Messiah was there: but they didn’t just come to the supper because of The Messiah, they came because they also wanted to see Lazarus, whom The Messiah had raised from the dead.

And Mary, a sinful woman from the city of Bethany, when she found out that The Messiah was at Simon’s house, took an alabaster box which had a pound of very precious ointment of spiknenard in it, and she came to The Messiah as he was seated at the table.

And she stood behind him and she was crying, and she began to wash his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hairs of her head, and she broke the box, and she poured it on his head, and she anointed his feet with the ointment, and she kissed his feet, and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

But when the disciples saw what happened, they were angry within themselves, and Judas Iscariot, the one who was to betray The Messiah, Simon’s son, said, Why was this ointment wasted?

This ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and that money could have been given to the poor? And the disciples talked about Mary.

But Judas didn’t say this because he cared about the poor, he said it because he was a thief, and because he had the purse, and he carried all of the money that was put into the purse.

When The Messiah understood what the disciples were saying, he said to them, Leave her alone; Why are you troubling the woman: she has performed a good work upon me.

You will always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to you can do good to them: but *I will not always be with you.

She poured this ointment on my body before my death, to do what she could, she came to anoint my body for my burial.

Truly I tell you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, what this woman has done, will be talked about in memory of her.

Now when Simon the leper, the Pharisee which had invited The Messiah to supper, saw what had happened, he said in his mind, If this man was a prophet, he would have known who and what type of woman this is that touched him: because she is a sinner.

And The Messiah answered Simon and said to him, Simon, I have something to say to you, And he said, Master, speak on.

And The Messiah said to Simon, There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: one owed him five hundred pence, and the other owed him fifty pence.

And when they had payed him the money, he forgave both of them. Tell me then, which one of them will love him the most?

Simon answered and said, the one whom he forgave the most I suppose. And The Messiah said to him, You have judged right.

And The Messiah turned to Mary, and said to Simon, You see this woman? I came into your house, and you didn’t give me any water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

You didn’t kiss me once: but this woman, *ever since she came in, did not stop kissing my feet.

You didn’t anoint my head with oil: but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.

Therefore I tell you, Her sins, which are many, have been forgiven; because she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, that person loves little.

And The Messiah said to Mary, Your sins are forgiven.

And everyone who sat at the table with The Messiah began to say inside of themselves, who is this that forgives sins also?

And The Messiah said to Mary, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

Q. Who was the woman with the alabaster box?
