Then Pilate’s soldiers took Jesus and led him into the common hall, called Praetorium; (Pilate’s office).

And Pilate flogged him.

And the soldiers gathered together the whole band of soldiers (a mass of men), and brought them to Jesus.

And they unclothed (stripped) him, and they put a purple (bluish red) robe on him.

And they bowed their knees before him, and they worshipped him.

And they began to take him in their arms, and greet (welcome) him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
and they treated him like a child, and they jeered, and derided, and mocked him.

And they spat on him, and they repeatedly beat him with their hands.

And they took the cane and they repeatedly hit him on the head with the cane.

And when they had finished treating him like a child, and jeering him, and deriding him, and mocking him,…

Then Pilate went out before the multitudes again, and he said to them, Behold, I bring him out to you, for you to know, that I find no crime in him.

And Pilate said to them, See, he’s just a man!
