Lazarus, of Bethany.

1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Then when Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the The Messiah, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 Now Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 When Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛  did, believed on him.
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had done. Jn 11:1-46

and every person who knew and saw Lazarus dead, and who saw him alive again after he had been raised from the dead,

Joh 12:1 Then Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

Joh 12:2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Joh 12:3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Joh 12:4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

Joh 12:5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

Joh 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Joh 12:7 Then said Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

Joh 12:8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Joh 12:9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

Joh 12:10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
Joh 12:11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛.

Joh 11:46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had done.

Joh 11:47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

Joh 11:48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

Joh 11:49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

Joh 11:50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

Joh 11:51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ should die for that nation;

Joh 11:52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
Joh 11:53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ raised, the stinking, decomposing body, of Lazarus from the dead.

Now a certain man was sick, and the man’s name was Lazarus, and he lived in the town of Bethany with his sisters Mary and Martha.

Mary was the woman who anointed Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ with ointment, and who wiped his feet with her hair. It was Mary’s brother Lazarus who was sick.

So Mary and Martha sent word to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, and they said, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, Lazarus whom you love is sick.

When Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ heard that Lazarus was sick, he said, this sickness is not for the death of Lazarus, it is for the glorification of God, that [autes] through it the Son of God (I..Lke 1:31,32..Jn 9:35-37..Mk 14:61,62) might be glorified.

Now Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ loved Martha, and Mary, and Lazarus.

When Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ heard that Lazarus was sick, he spent another two days in the same place where he was.

And after those two days Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.

And the disciples said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, Master, the last time you were there the Jews tried to kill you; and you are going to go there again?

And Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said, Aren’t there twelve hours in a day? If any man walks in the day, he doesn’t [proskopto] bump into things, because the light of the sun (God..Psalm 84:11) gives him sight.

But if a man walk in the [nux..night]  night he stumbles because the light of the sun is not entering into him.

[(Example. Spiritual. ) But if a man walk in the [nux..night] darkness, he [proskopto] (stumbles) bumps into things, because, he cannot see (the light..the word of the sun..God..Psa 119:105..Prov 6:23..2 Cor 4:4..is not entering into him). Because he is not being guided by the word of God. Jn 4:32)]

After Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had said these things, he said to the disciples, Our friend Lazarus is sleeping; but I am going, so that I can wake him up from his sleep.

Then the disciples said, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, if he is [koimaomai..be asleep, be dead] asleep he shall be [sozo] safe.

Howbeit Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was talking about his death: but the disciples thought that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had said that Lazarus was having a rest and was asleep.

Then Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ [parrhesia] boldly said to the disciples, Lazarus is dead. Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ knew that Lazarus had died!

And I am happy for your sakes that I was not there, [hina] so that you will believe; nevertheless let us go to him.

Then Thomas Didymus said to the other disciples, Let us go too, so we can die with him.

Then when Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ came, he found out that Lazarus had already been dead and lying in the grave for four days.

Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, it was about fifteen furlongs away.

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

Then as soon as Martha heard that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was coming, she went and met him: but Mary remained in the house.

Then Martha said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

But I know, that even now, whatever you will ask of God, God will give it to you.

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said to Martha, Your brother will rise again.

Martha said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said to Martha, I am the resurrection, and the life: whoever believes in me, though that person was dead, yet shall that person live:

And whoever lives and believes in me will never die, Do you believe this?

And Martha said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, Yes, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master: I believe that you are the The Messiah, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.

And when Martha had said that , she went her way, and she secretly called Mary her sister, and she said to Mary, The Master is here, and he is calling for you.

As soon as Mary heard that, she quickly got up, and she went to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛.

Now Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had not yet come into Bethany, but he was at the place where Martha met him.

Then the Jews who were with Mary in the house, and who were comforting her, when they saw Mary get up and quickly go out, they followed her, and they said, She is going to the grave to cry there.

Then when Mary got to the place where Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, and she said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

When Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ therefore saw Mary crying, and the Jews which came with her also crying, he groaned in his spirit, and he was troubled.

And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, come and see.

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ cried.

Then the Jews said, See how he loved him!

And some of the Jews said, Couldn’t this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have stopped this man from dying?

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ therefore again groaning within himself came to the grave. It was a cave, and there was a stone laying upon it.

And Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said, Take you away the stone. Martha, the sister of Lazarus who was dead, said to Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, by now he stinks: because he has been dead for four days.

Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said to Martha, Didn’t I say to you, that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God.

Then they took the stone away from the cave in which Lazarus was laying. And Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ lifted up his eyes, and he said, [pater..parent, father] Father, I thank you that you have heard me.

And I know that you always hear me: but because of the people who are standing by I said it, so that they will believe that you have sent me.

And when Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had said that, he cried out with a loud voice, Lazareth, come [exo..without] outside.

And Lazarus who had been dead came [exo..without] outside, and his hands and his feet were bound with [keiriai..bandages..graveclothes] bandages: and there was a [soudarion..handkerchief, napkin, towel] towel wrapped around his face. And Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ said to them, untie him, and let him go.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and saw the things that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ did, believed on him.

But some of the Jews went their ways to the Pharisees, and they told the Pharisees the things that Yehôshûa‛ Yehôshûa‛ had done.
